PPV/CPV Marketing

PPV/CPV Marketing

What is it?  Basically, PPV or CPV marketing is getting traffic from the PPV networks by purchasing pop-up or pop-under windows.  The neat thing is that it is very targeted because you choose where you would like your ads to pop up.  It can be anything from a keyword, a key phrase, or even a URL.

Pay per view traffic is very affordable because you can get clicks for as little as $0.002!  The PPV networks have generated adware applications that display the pop-up ads.  These adware applications have been installed by people that have used things such as games, emoticons, wallpapers, screensavers, or other types of software.

In actuality, adware is not the same as spyware or malware.  Since adware is 100% opt-in, it is not illegal or harmful since you gave the networks permission to show ads occasionally.  Adware can also easily be removed by uninstalling the program.  Spyware and malware is very unethical and even possibly illegal because they collect data from your computer without your permission.

By using PPV marketing to send traffic to CPA offers, it can be very lucrative and profitable because of how quickly and cheaply you can start running campaigns.  It’s also very targeted because you get to choose where your ads pop up…for specific keywords or URLs.

Some positive aspects of why PPV marketing works great are the extremely cheap traffic, no quality score issues, you can direct link without having to worry about duplicate URLs, low competition, don’t have to write ads, pixel tracking available with most PPV networks, easy to scale and ramp up campaigns, can target specific countries, and can set daily budgets.

Some negative aspects about PPV marketing are not as much traffic compared to PPC, some PPV networks require you to have a referral and deposit a minimum balance of $1,000, some CPA networks don’t allow PPV traffic, and the traffic doesn’t start immediately and can sometimes take a while to get approved.

Quantcast is a great way to get a list of sites that have huge amounts of targeted traffic.  When marketing with URLs, be very cautious because even though you may have set a budget, if the traffic comes in too fast, the PPV networks may be too slow to shut the campaign down and therefore overexceeding your budget.  Quantcast will also give you very valuable demographic info as well.

Here are some major PPV networks…

  • AdOn Metwork – http://www.adonnetwork.com
  • Media Traffic – http://www.mediatraffic.com
  • TrafficVance – http://www.trafficvance.com
  • Zango.com – http://www.zango.com
  • DirectCPV – http://www.directcpv.com

Remember that with the CPA networks, you can only send traffic to CPA offers when it says "contextual" allowed.  That basically means PPV traffic is ok.
